One thing is for sure. I wish i had either of these versions. I have been playing Batman Forever on the GameBoy Color. It is no where near as good as these two.
Have you guys ever played the Lynx version of Batman Returns? In my experience, it was honestly pretty awful, so I'm assuming not. I mean, sure, the Lynx version LOOKS nicer, but as a game, the Game Gear version can beat it down every time.
The Game Gear version has some nice ideas like being able to use your grappling hook, some good boss fights, and being able to select your route. The Lynx version is all about walking forward and using the one attack you're given until you inevitably get game over. I have to admit, I haven't played that much of the Lynx version, but I really have to call anybody who says the Lynx version could possible be better out. Even if it does look nicer.
Not really fair to compare Lynx's Ninja Gaiden to the Game Gear, either, since they're pretty different games. Maybe if it were the Lynx port of Ninja Gaiden 3, instead.

I have owned the Lynx version since it came out and I am pretty sure several other people own it too, it's pretty highly regarded and for good reason. It is one of the few movie games I have played that really captures the atmosphere of the film and is seriously impressive graphically too in parts.
I used to own the GG version too before I sold my Game Gear about a year and a half ago and it really wasn't very good at all. Just a bog standard platform adventure that was so common in the 90's, really generic stuff and nothing like the actual movie. Sorry but the Lynx game pisses over it from a great height.
And its perfectly fair to compare the Lynx version of Ninja Gaiden to the GG one simply because they are both Ninja Gaiden, same license just done in different ways.
Of course I've played Batman Returns on the Lynx! I own the darn thing! It is a tough game but that doesn't make it awful. It also captures the essence of he movie pretty well.Â
Ok, back to the exact same game on both systems - it's the classic Ms. Pacman

Lynx version
I'm giving this to the Lynx. I do not like scrolling mazes for games that don't have them originally. The sprites are more detailed on the GG but they are much larger also (in fact, they look too large for the maze). The Lynx version also offers additional mazes that take advantage of the widescreen for the Lynx.Â

Same as, I love the way the Lynx version is all on one screen and also has the bonus extras like the wide mazes.
Maybe I am biased but I have the Lynx winning every round so far

Well it looks like its just me and you Trek
I'd also agree that the Lynx is better in most ways, simply because I find a lot of the games on the Game Gear are very shallow or otherwise just lesser ports of good games on the Master system which I have anyway. The games on the Lynx are far more deep and interesting and the graphics are better in most cases for me. Xenophobe, Xybots, STUN Runner, Gates Of Zendocon, Todds adventure in Slime World and Rygar are but a few of my favourites, there is nothing on the GG for me that comes close either in terms of game play or graphics that I haven't already seen or wouldn't rather get on the SMS.
I think the only game thats GG only that I love is Sonic in Triple Trouble
Ultrapro on xbox live
I'm giving Pacman to the Lynx. With that I'm at 7-2 for Atari.
Glad to see other "voices" in here.
About the only thing remotely cool about the Game Gear apart from the TV Tuner peripheral was that it had a SEGA logo on it! A shockingly poor piece of cheap-looking tat, imho. (Yes, I do own one.)
Atari Lynx was da bomb!
